Vacation packages often cost less when purchased far in advance. While this typically results in the most reasonable price, unforeseen circumstances can prevent the traveler from taking the trip. Not including trip cancellation insurance when purchasing a vacation package can result in low partial refunds and high cancellation fees if the trip is canceled.
